 About the Program
Join Us:
Maple Sugar Days are held in Uxbridge, MA on the first three weekends in March. We are open rain, snow or shine!
For The General Public:
Tours are open to the public at 11AM are given on a first come first serve basis. The last tour departs at 3:30 PM.
Public tours are open on a first come, first serve basis.
For Organized Groups:
We regret that we are not able to accomodate any additional large groups this year, such as scout groups, youth groups, and other large groups. We try to accomodate as many of these groups as we can each season. Bookings open in January 2011 for next season for large groups.
About the Tour
The program lasts about an hour and a half to two hours. It consists of 5 segments, each lasting 20 - 25 minutes:
1Welcome video upstairs in the 19th century barn that serves as the visitor's center at River Bend Farm
2Indoor talk & demonstration about the art and science of sugar-making
3A visit to the sampling table to try a bit of maple sap before it becomes syrup and other maple goodies.
4A walk to see the maple tapping and collecting process. Watch as a tree is tapped and maybe even lend a hand with a drill. Help carry buckets of sap back to the sugar house.
5A visit to our new sugar house to see how sap is made into syrup.
There is no charge for this program.
